It takes about 6 washes to get to the best absorbency, but it wears well through multiple washes and the bamboo is so absorbent that you don't need a doubler.  It gives the trimmest fit of all cloth diapers that i have tried.  The bamboo gets softer and softer, i can't believe how easy cloth diapering is now!
